Hello Friends! I hope you can visit me this coming weekend at the National Arboretum for the Potomac Bonsai Festival. I'll be selling pots made especially for these magical little trees. I'm thrilled to be participating again this year. It's a fun and intimate event filled with people who are incredibly passionate about this living art form. I'm guessing that many of you, at some point in your lives, have thought to yourselves, 'I'd really like to learn about Bonsai.' or 'I'd love to have a bonsai tree!' or 'I should get another Bonsai tree because I killed the last one (SAME).' Well, now's your chance! There will be lots of demonstrations and workshops (some free - see schedule below) all weekend. Also, the azaleas are blooming and Arboretum is just lovely this time of year. Friday, May 5th, 9am- 5pm Saturday, May 6th, 9am - 5pm Sunday, May 7th, 9am - 4pm
Outside of the National Bonsai & Penjing Museum, find everything you need to begin growing bonsai. Vendors from the region will be selling everything from refined bonsai to pre-bonsai material, tools, soil, and planters. PBA Bonsai Exhibition, National Bonsai Museum Upper Courtyard. Friday 12-4, Saturday 10-4, Sunday 10-4. Opening Ceremony, National Bonsai Museum Special Exhibits Wing. Saturday at 10:30 a.m. Bonsai Display discussion with Guest Artist Suthin Sukosolvisit, National Bonsai Museum Special Exhibits Wing. Saturday at 10:45 following the opening ceremony. Bonsai Demonstration with Guest Artist Suthin Sukosolvisit, Sales Tent across from the National Bonsai Museum. Saturday 12:30-4 p.m. The Art of Bonsai Display, National Bonsai Museum Special Exhibits Wing. Saturday 10:30-4, Sunday 10-4, open through May 13. Bonsai Demonstration with Guest Artist Suthin Sukosolvisit, Visitor’s Center Auditorium. Sunday 9 to noon. Beginner’s Workshop (space is limited) National Bonsai Museum Lecture/Demonstration Center. Saturday 9-4, start times throughout the day, pre-registration and walk-up registration are limited. Pay $75 at the door. Bonsai Workshop (ticketed event) with Guest Artist Suthin Sukosolvisit, National Bonsai Museum Lecture/Demonstration Center. Sunday 12-4.
